Extremely cozy restaurant, traditional cuisine

Quaint restaurant, especially in the inner courtyard in the evening a very nice ambience. Nice service and delicious food ... I can only recommend the restaurant. Be sure to try the delicious Kaiserschmarren for dessert!

We got a table there at short notice last night and were completely thrilled. My wife had a classic with roast pork. The meat, the salad and the homemade dumplings were very good and served with a delicious sauce.

Very very disappointing. Quality has deteriorated a lot over the years. Fried potatoes swim in the fat. Veal schnitzel unseasoned and tasteless. You can't call potato salad that. Everything also arranged very carelessly. Unfortunately, our complaint was not taken seriously either. All 4 plates (3 different dishes) were both visually and tastefully bad. € 95 thrown out the window, and we were not met with the bill despite a complaint. Unfortunately, even the one star is still too much. Not recommended anymore

We came without a reservation on a Saturday evening, but still got a seat. We sat quite a long time and should have cleared the table for the subsequent reservation. On request, the boss changed the reservation and we could relax and stay the whole evening and eat more. Thank you for this great service!

I have to think for a long time when I last had such delicious food. The ambience was absolutely great and the friendly, courteous service was pleasant. The food was really excellent!

We hadn't made a reservation and understandably couldn't get a seat on a Saturday at the beginning. When we ran out the waitress ran after us and said that someone had canceled. We ordered four dishes, all of which were there in a short time. One dish was accidentally made with bacon. The dish was completely redesigned immediately and served in a short time. The quality was excellent and the service polite and courteous! We'd love to go there again when we're in Würzburg.

Price performance fits. The sauerbraten and the passion fruit parfait are very tasty, portions are quite generous. Very friendly staff. Very popular, so make a reservation in any case. Quite a lively atmosphere.

Because of the very positive reviews, I ended up there too. The "Backöfele" is a very nice and rustic restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was pleasantly nice and very attentive. You'd love to come back there. We recommend.

We went here for dinner with colleagues. Reservation worked. Service was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious - but some portions were rather small (especially in relation to the price shown). The atmosphere is very nice. We'd love to come back again.

We were passing through, really nice reception, no problem at all with a dog either. The service staff were very polite and courteous, had not felt so comfortable for a long time. And what can I say about the food, it was a poem. Really highly recommended. The Corona measures were also implemented flawlessly and came across as completely natural. A big praise

A great, cozy restaurant with local specialties, very friendly and attentive service. The price-performance ratio is balanced. My friends and I really enjoyed the food. If I'm in Würzburg again, I'll be happy to dine there again!

Was excited to come here after hearing all the amazing reviews. Atmosphere did not disappoint, was perfect!!! But at the end of the day I go to a restaurant to eat. And at these prices the food should also be amazing. Portions are generous, but flavors are mediocre, at best. Sauerbraten has been my favorite since I was a kid, the meat was the most tender I've ever had, but the all important sauce and blaukraut were in ways overwhelming and in ways lacking, they just missed the balance of sour, sweet, and seasoning. My husband had chicken cordon bleu. The potato salad was exceptionally good! But the bacon taste of the ham just wasn't doing it for us. Service had all the pretense of fine dining, but fell short in hospitality as we were begrudgingly greeted by a server at the door and saw our server only for the drink and food order then when they came to pick up our payment (they didn't even drop off the check themselves). If you want delicious authentic German food I suggest stopping at a Biergarten, Brauerei, or Gasthof restaurant. Food is usually 10x more satisfying and half the price with an idyllic, lively German festiveness which is more representative of Franconia. If you want to pay for a fancy atmosphere, come here.

If you want to enjoy good Franconian cuisine, you can't avoid the Backöfele in Würzburg (but it's best to reserve in advance). The ambience is very rustic, the food is sometimes better than at Grandma's (sry grandma, but the red cabbage was to kneel down) and the Kaiserschmarrn a poem. The service is very friendly and warm and in combination with the good wine list it was an all-round successful evening. Many thanks for that, we will definitely be back.

We were in Würzburg for one day and beforehand we found out where to eat well. In the end, we opted for the Backöfele, because they serve Kaiserschmarrn. The prices in general are a bit higher in Würzburg compared to tourism prices in Upper Franconia ? The lunch menu is recommended ? The food (Fleischküchla with fried potatoes) was delicious and tasted harmoniously. Really good? The Kaiserschmarrn looked very good and tasted, but the price is already set very high, because it consists of "cheap" ingredients in the end. I myself often make Kaiserschmarrn for the two of us at home and only use organic products. For this price I could often make Kaiserschmarrn. It was nice that the Schmarrn was caramelized, not many do that? But because of the excessive price for us, it's 4 out of 5 stars 5

It is an institution in Würzburg when it comes to food. It is incredibly delicious, every time a pleasure to go there. Very good home cooking served with good wines. Take a few more euros but it's fair for what you get for it. Very friendly and helpful staff also comes.

We came across the "Backöfele" while passing through, and based on the reviews we wanted to try it out. What to say 5 * are not enough: D Everything is right here, from the ambience to the rest. Reserved on the phone for a table at 3:30 p.m. (called at 3 p.m.), super friendly and everything worked out. The service staff is very courteous and friendly, never had to wait long, whether to order for a drink or for the food to arrive. :) The food? Seldom eaten as good as here! You can taste the love behind it and everything is homemade, from the main course to the dessert. In terms of price, it is completely okay for the quality you get here! We live 250 km away and would go back anytime to eat here! Absolute recommendation if you are in the mood for warm people and very good food! :)

We come from the Münsterland region and were given the recommendation to go to the Backöfele. We are not the easiest guests. Changes to dishes, ask the service staff and let us advise you on this and that. After we ordered, about 15 minutes later, one of us wanted to change his side dish. Flexibility, no problem here. Courteous service, very friendly. The ambience was excellent. Everything was on schedule. The best part was our meal, I had rump steak with dumplings and mushrooms in cream. Which was really as good as almost never before. We are very satisfied, we would only recommend it and would come back ourselves. Thank you for the lovely evening.

Wonderful food, our waiter was courteous, friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting! Worth finding your way there!!

The service is horrible. The staff was cold, sterile, and uninviting for guests. I would not recommend this place, even to an acquaintance. Save yourself the time and energy, and go somewhere worthwhile nearby. Literally anything in the area would be a better bet. In specific, the brunette with glasses and her hair in a bun was particularly rude. Avoid her at all costs.

Very good food and drinks

Very typical historic local restaurant. Candle light in the restaurant in the evening, very nice!

We had to wait a lot of time to be served wirh the main dishes. Moreover, we had to wait a long time (25 minutes) to have the strudel dessert after ordering it.

Delicious German style food in an old fashioned ambient. Service is very fast and friendly. Quite busy restaurant, potentially you have to wait. Several veggie options available. The dishes are a bit pricy, but worth the quality and experience! The wine card is extensive with helpful suggestions from the waiters. Highly recommendable!

service good, food ok. Decor nice, for a Tourist must go

I went there at 11:30 a.m. and waited. I was eating for 40 minutes from midnight. I only had 3 teams booked, but they didn't let me in. I guess this is not the only place where other Germans are hurt. It's not like I don't have any money, and I'll tell you about this restaurant when I get to my country.

Very good place with high quality traditional German food and welcoming staff with hospitality. Highly recommend for those who want to find a good place with quiet space to dine
